Blount-Bridgers House archives, to commemorate the life and career of notable Edgecombe County artist Hobson Pittman
(1899-1972). The BBH archives contained a treasure trove of rarely seen photographs, depicting the artist at various
stages of his life and his career as a painter and a teacher of painting. Also included are people and places of importance
to Pittman. The exhibit features newly matted, framed, and captioned archival photographs, which are exhibited
chronologically as the visitor moves clockwise around the Hobson Pittman Memorial Gallery. Special thanks to notable
Tarboro artist and former Gallery Committee chairperson Motsie Brooks, was instrumental in helping select, organize
and caption these photographs. Thanks also to the Blount-Bridgers House Foundation for their financial support of the
project, and to Jim and Beth Boykin at Framer’s Alley in Elm City, NC for matting and framing the exhibit.
